Who We Are

ABOUT US

A Home Away From Home

Edenvale Care Centre Hospice accepts death as the final stage of life: it affirms life, but does not try to hasten or postpone death. Hospice care treats the person and symptoms of the disease, rather than treating the disease itself.

Our Focus

Hospice care is a compassionate approach that focuses on enhancing the quality of life
for individuals and their caregivers facing advanced, life-limiting illnesses. It offers
support during the final stages of incurable diseases, ensuring patients live as
comfortably as possible. A dedicated team of professionals work together to manage
symptoms, allowing patients to spend their last days with dignity and surrounded by
loved ones. Hospice care is family centered, involving both the patient and their family
in decision-making.

Serving the Ekurhuleni district, we are a registered non-profit organization committed
to providing physical, psychological, and social care to individuals with terminal
illnesses, including cancer, and HIV/AIDS. Our goal is to offer holistic care to patients in
the terminal stages, helping them experience comfort and peace in their final days.

Our Journey

On the 4th of April, 2002, we took a monumental step toward serving our community with compassion and care. What once was an old, unassuming house transformed into a haven for terminally ill patients. The vision was simple but profound: to create a space that offered dignity, comfort, and support during life’s most challenging moments.

The double garage, once home to vehicles and tools, was reimagined as a warm and functional ward. Every detail was thoughtfully considered to ensure that it provided a space of peace and care for our patients. The rest of the house was adapted to serve multiple purposes, each tailored to meet the needs of those we serve.

The main living areas became our operational heartbeat, with offices for our dedicated staff. A cozy lounge was created for family members and friends, offering them a welcoming space to gather, reflect, or simply be present with their loved ones. This house, once ordinary, became a sanctuary, a place of connection, solace, and unwavering support. It stands as a testament to the power of purpose.

Our Mission

At Edenvale Care Centre Hospice, our mission is to provide palliative care services to terminally ill patients and their families which includes patient care, counselling services and support. To operate outreach programmes, encouraging family, friends and community members to become involved in our Hospice in the form of donations, volunteering and support. To reach more people through our association with business enterprises who will financially sustain the centre through their social responsibility program’s. care centres in the area.
